Electronic filing

I can file the application electronically through the slovensko.sk portal. Annexes must be signed with a qualified electronic signature (QES) and time stamp, or be an authorised conversion of a paper document. I explain the procedure so that you know what happens to your documents.

In practice

The basics of electronic filing

Slovensko.sk is the central public administration portal. Through the electronic mailbox on it, documents can be filed with public authorities and their requests and decisions received. You can log in, for example, with an identity card with an electronic chip.

A document in electronic form, such as a contract, is signed by the parties with a qualified electronic signature (QES), which has the same legal effect as a handwritten signature. A time stamp shows when the document existed.

A paper document, for example a contract signed on paper, is converted into electronic form by authorised conversion (Act No. 305/2013 Coll.). The conversion preserves the legal effects of the original, so it can be attached to an electronic filing.

Electronic filing shortens delivery, and a confirmation is stored when the filing is sent. For an application for registration the administrative fee is €50 for an electronic filing and €100 for a paper filing.

Procedure

How electronic filing works

I adapt the procedure to the office and the type of filing. The basic steps are the same.

  1. Preparing documents

I prepare the documents in an electronic form that the office accepts and check that they are complete. I ask you in advance for any missing papers.

  2. Signing annexes

Electronic annexes are signed with a qualified electronic signature and time stamp. Paper documents are converted under authorisation.

  3. Filing via slovensko.sk

I send the filing through the central public administration portal and keep the confirmation of delivery. On request, I will give you a copy of the confirmation.

  4. Following the proceedings

I follow the messages in the electronic mailbox and respond to the office's requests in good time. I inform you about each request.

Scope

What electronic filing includes

I always adapt the procedure to the office and the type of filing.

  • Electronic communication

Filing and receiving documents through the electronic mailbox on the slovensko.sk portal. I process messages from the office within the deadlines it sets.

  • Signing annexes

Preparing annexes for signature with a qualified electronic signature and time stamp. Before signing, I check that the document is in the correct format.

  • Conversion of documents

Authorised conversion of paper documents into electronic form where required. A converted document has the same legal effects as the original.

  • Check of annexes

Checking the format, size and completeness of the annexes before the filing is sent. This reduces the risk that the office returns the filing or asks for a supplement.

  • Confirmation of filing

Keeping the confirmation of delivery, which documents the day on which the filing was sent. The confirmation serves as proof that the deadline was met.

  • Delivered requests

Handling requests and decisions that the office delivers to the electronic mailbox. I inform you in good time what the office requires and by when.

Watch for

What to watch for in electronic filing

Electronic filing has technical requirements that a paper filing does not. I check them before sending.

  1. Validity of the signature

The qualified electronic signature and the time stamp must be valid at the time of signing. I verify the validity of the certificate before filing so that the signature can be verified.

  2. Format of annexes

Annexes must be in an accepted format and within the permitted size. I check them in advance so that the office's system does not reject them.

  3. Legibility and completeness

Scanned documents must be legible and complete. A missing page or an illegible scan is a ground for a request from the office.

  4. Authorised conversion

A paper contract is converted into electronic form by authorised conversion; an ordinary scan is not enough. I arrange the conversion before filing.

  5. Delivery to the mailbox

Messages from the office are delivered to the electronic mailbox, and a deadline may begin to run even if you have not read the message. That is why I check the mailbox regularly.

An application for registration with the land registry is also filed electronically. The procedure, deadlines and fees are described on the land registry application page.

Questions

Frequently asked questions about electronic filing

What is a qualified electronic signature?

It is an electronic signature with the same legal effect as a handwritten signature. It is issued by a trust service provider, for example through an identity card with an electronic chip.

What is a time stamp for?

A qualified electronic time stamp confirms that a document existed at a given time. It is attached to the signature so that it can be verified even after the certificate has expired.

Can I file electronically myself?

Yes, if you have an activated electronic mailbox on slovensko.sk and the annexes in electronic form. I can help you with the preparation and filing.

Is the administrative fee different for electronic filing?

Yes. For an application for registration the fee is €50 for an electronic filing and €100 for a paper filing. The values are stated as of 30 November 2026.

Can I sign a contract electronically?

Yes, if all the parties have a qualified electronic signature. Otherwise the contract is signed on paper and converted into electronic form by authorised conversion. We will choose the method according to your options.

What is authorised conversion?

It is the conversion of a document into electronic form with a certification that the content corresponds to the original. An ordinary scan does not give that assurance by itself.

How do I know the filing arrived?

After sending, a confirmation of delivery is stored, which documents the day of filing. On request, I will give you a copy of the confirmation.

Do you need to file electronically?

Write to me about the office and the subject of the filing. I will propose a procedure and my fee, and point out the documents that need to be prepared.
